The pace of innovation in neural networks, artificial intelligence and self-learning systems is nothing short of amazing. More than any other factor it is this innovation that is likely to fuel development of new discoveries in multiple fields over the coming decades.
While the last decade has been about building out cloud infrastructure, the next decade will be about deploying complex algorithms to provide new insights and discoveries from the massive data sets which have now been created and defined.
The last twenty minutes of the talk, focusing on current research and application of self-learning programs to protein shape predictions is a great example of the kind of problems that once took years to solve but will soon be solved in hours. That is the kind of innovation that helps drive secular bull markets over the long term.
