The Continuous Commodity Index (Old CRB)

Eoin Treacy's view The CRB Index was first instituted in 1957 as an unweighted index of 19 commodities. Following the first reweighting two indices were popularised, the weighted average known and the CRB and the unweighted version which became known as the Continuous Commodity Index or Old CRB. At Fullermoney we have often referred to the Old CRB or CCI as a reference point for the commodity complex generally.

Unfortunately, futures relating to these indices have been delisted from the International Commodity Exchange and as a result Bloomberg no longer carries data for the Continuous Commodity Index. I have therefore amended the title in the Chart Library to highlight the fact that it will no longer update.

However, Greenhaven has an ETF which tracks the Continuous Commodity Index and this does still update and can be found in the Chart Library. The ticker is GCC.
