Is Japan the Best of Developed Asia?

My thanks to Bernard Tan for this latest and interesting essay from Singapore.  It consists mainly of graphics which I had not previously seen and which will certainly be of interest to some subscribers.  Here is a brief sample from the introductory text:

It is well known that Japan faces a shrinking and aging population problem. It is serious, no doubt, but I am writing this essay to point out that the rest of developed Asia is far worse.

Look at the table comparison of fertility rates.

Relative to other developed Asian countries, Japan is booming with babies!

I think Japan will remain a medium to longer-term recovery candidate.  The key is governance and we know how creative and inventive Japan can be.
