Still more on HFT, this time regarding technical analysis:

“What do you think is the potential impact of HFT on technical analysis?”

David Fuller's view

I do not think HFT affects technical analysis any differently than any other form of research. Analytically, HFT does not have or create a view and cannot be described as market research. Its main methodology is speed of order execution.

To the extent that HFT sometimes creates sudden volatility, it is a hazard to leveraged trading, as I have often mentioned in recent years.
