On a Euro-based HSI tracker:

Instead of buying the HSI future I would like to buy a tracker. Which one do you recommend if you are EURO based? Thanks,

David Fuller's view

No problem.  I discussed this with Eoin and he mentioned the iShares FTSE China 25 (IQQC GY), which is listed in the Chart Library.  You can find it in the Library’s ‘Funds’ section; add it to your ‘Favourites’, or just search for IQQC when you next wish to see it.  This is Euro-denominated and listed in Germany.  In Bloomberg's description, it tracks the FTSE China 50 Index as closely as possible and offers exposure to 50 of the largest and most liquid Chinese stocks (Red Chips, P Chips and H shares) listed in Hong Kong.

Subscribers with a similar interest may also wish to look at the JPMorgan Chinese Investment Trust (JII LN).  This is Sterling rather than Euro listed, but if you do not mind changing currencies, for a buyer it now has the considerable advantage of trading at discount to NAV of -23.473, according to Bloomberg.
