Peter Thiel, co-founder of Paypal and founder of Clarium Capital Mgt, plus Kevin Harrington, MD of Clarium
David Fuller's view My thanks to a subscriber for this thoughtful and farsighted interview from Bloomberg. It is 38 minutes long but well worth it, in my opinion.
Here are a few of the their points: 1) as a consequence of market gyrations, many investors no longer believe in anything; 2) Thiel and Harrington advise investors to think about the longer-term outlook; 3) Europe has an energy crisis as its costs are at the 2008 peak; 4) there is a worldwide need for energy innovation; 5) Japan is susceptible to an energy shock as a result of the post Fukushima anti-nuclear sentiment; 6) Silicon Valley is still productive but less innovative than it used to be; 7) it can be difficult to be a contrarian if you are fighting algorithms.
