Unlike Apple which made music stores obsolete, Bitcoin is competing against governments which jealously protect their unique right to create money. Since the company is unregulated, online, opaque and has not indicated what will happen when the 21 millionth coin has been created, the number of things that could go wrong for the fledgling company greatly outweighs the allure of participating. To me at least it looks like nothing more than a fad.
