"I am a new subscriber and am having difficulty programming a 40 week Moving Average using the custom charting settings. Although I choose the WEEKLY sample in the option box it seems to calculate a 40 Day MA for me when I enter 40 in the MOVING AVERAGE box - can you tell me how to get the correct chart?"

Eoin Treacy's view Thank you for this question which crops up from time to time. Other subscriber's may also value a recap. Here is an answer I gave to a similar query regarding moving averages on December 23rd 2010.

"A 200-day moving average is identical to a 40-week moving average. However, the Chart Library does not calculate weekly or monthly moving averages; only daily averages. This means that you will always use the same daily parameter regardless of whether the chart is daily, weekly or monthly."
