On changes in China's energy policies:
"Interesting article on nuclear energy in China:

"China to Drop Solar Energy to Focus on Nuclear Power"

David Fuller's view Thanks for pointing this out. Various policies can change so quickly in China that it is hard to keep up. Only a very short while ago I was reading about China's rapid expansion of wind farms and solar installations. Clearly, it wants a balanced national portfolio of energy, and nuclear is the more proven clean technology. China has also become the leading developer of modern nuclear power stations.

Will this boost the nuclear power industry? It cannot hurt but there is too much inexpensive competition, not least from shale gas and oil. The renewables are more expensive but currently less controversial than nuclear, while memories of Fukushima remain fresh, particularly in developed countries.
