On BBG's Consumer Confidence Index:
"Bloomberg has a Consumer Comfort Index (COMFCOMF). In keeping with the spirit of behavioural technical analysis, this would be a good indicator to watch. Could it be included in the chart library? There is an article today in Bloomberg that mentions this indicator."

David Fuller's view Well done for spotting this and yes, it certainly looks worthy of inclusion in the Subscriber's Chart Library. Eoin will be able to add it shortly after his return later this month. Meanwhile, here is the BBG table detailing aspects of the Index as of April 5th. You can also see two description pages from BBG: DES1 & DES2, and I also have copies of their charts.

This historic chart of COMFCOMF dating back to its inception in 1985 may be a bit difficult for you to see in detail although it will be a lot clearer when in the Library. However, you can probably see that it has been a good, confirming indicator which usually lags slightly but actually gave a leading signal in early 2008. While it gave a good confirming signal in 2H 2003, the choppy action of the next few years is disconcerting. Might this be due to declining living standards for many people in the USA, at a time when Asia was booming? We can see this again following the 2008 to early-2009 lows - a muted response although it shows higher lows until last year's cyclical bear market which took BBG's indicator right back to its earlier floor.

What interests me most is the impressive recent action which is best seen on this weekly chart and looks like base formation completion. In markets there are always more questions than answers, so: 1) is this the beginning of a more lengthy recovery in line with the cyclical bull market that Fullermoney has forecast; 2) will it hold above the breakout near 40 during a correction and consolidation of this year's strong 1Q gains?

My answers to these questions: 1) Possibly, and it has certainly given a positive signal recently which I am inclined to give the benefit of the doubt, pending the next question; 2) we are about to find out over the next few months because a well-earned stock market correction and consolidation is clearly underway as Fullermoney has been reporting, not least in the Audios.
