On learning about investing:
"I am a South African business man and I am interested in learning about equities, bonds, derivatives, etc.

"I have no knowledge whatsoever in terms of being able to participate on these markets if I wanted to do it myself. My question is are you aware of any companies based in South Africa where I could enrol to do an elementary entrance level course pertaining to the markets I have been told that Fullermoney offers various seminars but unfortunately I am based in South Africa?

"I would appreciate any help that you may have to offer in this regard."

David Fuller's view Thanks for your email which may also be of interest to some other occasional visitors to the Fullermoney global strategy site.

Most of our subscribers are very experienced investors but we all start somewhere as we were not born with these insights and knowledge. As a businessman you will have developed skills that will be very useful as you focus on your investment interests.

I do not know about courses in South Africa but I would proceed cautiously in that direction, for the same reason that you might be wary of a course telling you how to run your business. In the west, there are plenty of people happy to charge fat fees for their 'wisdom' or 'proven' methodology. Some may be OK but most offer expensive snake oil and are not around for long.

If you have the time for reading and observation required to become a successful investor, Fullermoney provides a free alternative to help you along your learning curve. Our public site, which does not require a logon or registration of any sort, has an extensive Archive for both Comment of the Day and also Audios.

Once our Subscriber's Area Comment of the Day and Audios are four months old, they are also filed in the public area. By reading and listening selectively, you or anyone else can scroll back to any period since Fullermoney evolved into an online service nearly a decade ago, and follow the market analysis and debate.

Eoin and I feel that this is a valuable resource for students of the markets because it covers real time examples and analysis as the market drama unfolds. It is all there, with the exception of a few external links which may no longer be available. All of our own copy remains in its original form and therefore includes the historic reality of market events, uncertainties, good and bad calls, plus every trade or investment that we have made in our own personal accounts. It will also help you to read price charts in a factual, behavioural manner.

Go for it.
