on using the Chart Library:
"I have been using the chart library with some success but have a couple of questions.

"1. Individual country stocks appear only to include those stocks in the index. For example, the only German stocks are those in the Dax. Is this assessment correct? (The same applies to stocks in South Africa; I have an interest in several SA stocks which you do not appear to have - for example Mr. Price, a very successful retailer.)

"2. I notice that several of your subscribers request that charts be added of various stocks in which they are interested. Where do these appear?"

Eoin Treacy's view Thank you for these questions which other subscribers may also find of interest. The Chart Library has more than 18,000 instruments including equities, bonds, funds, induces, currencies, commodities spreads and ratios. For the majority of countries we include the constituents of the major country index. However we also include some additional equities and funds as they are requested by subscribers. Since we share our equity database with Investors Intelligence these cannot be added to the DAX or FTSE-100 groups because they would interfere with market breadth reports they compile.

When someone requests a stock which is not included in a major index, it gets added to the Equities (Selected) section of the Chart Library. This is the last option on the main dropdown menu. Equities listed in this section are generally ordered by where they are listed. There are a large number of Hong Kong and AIM stocks in this section which are not in the Hang Seng or the AIM-100 respectively.

We also receive a number of requests for Australian and Canadian small and mid cap stocks. These can all be found in the Australia Resources section and the Canada (other) of the International Equity Library.

Investors Intelligence does not compile breadth data for South Africa so the South Africa section of the International Equity Library has an array of equities which have been requested by subscribers over the years. Mr.Price can now be found in this section.

Anything in the Chart Library can be found using the dedicated search engine.
